The Jig Is
Up!
We have to
understand the realities in the Middle East, if we are to understand how things
will evolve in the next little while. On one side we have Iran and its proxies,
Syria, Iran, and, yes, the Houthis. On the other side we have the established
states like Egypt, Jordan, and the oil states like Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf statelets.
(Qatar is a special case.)The established states are haunted by sentiment in
the street. They see that their very stability is at risk as a consequence of
the Iran’s appeal to the Arab masses. They fear the power of the Moslem
Brotherhood to arouse the masses. (The Egyptian Army orchestrated a coup to
evict them when they were the democratically elected government.) Hamas is
their creature on the ground in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, in Gaza and in the West
Bank of Israel.
Israel’s
policy error in tolerating Hamas for so long has cost Israel dearly. Israel saw
Hamas as a means of weakening. The Palestinian Authority which they saw as
their primary threat. Having seen how successful Iran has been has led them to
a radical change in view. In eliminating Hamas in Gaza and in the West Bank,
they are removing them as a threat to the established Arab states. We can see
that most recently in the radical changes occurring in Egyptian policy.
Moving from Egyptian
threats against Israel if they move into Rafah, Hamas’ last stronghold, they
are actually building facilities on the other side of their border to deal with
the expected mass border crossings of Palestinian civilians across their border.
Egypt is signaling that they believe that Israel will actually eliminate Hamas,
in spite of U.S wobbling. Further, they have signaled to the U.S that they see
no role for the P.A. in Gaza. Israel’s resolute actions are a gift to the Arab
nations in the region who fear the power of the Moslem Brotherhood,
ideologically akin to the Mullahs in Teheran.
Even the U.S
has roused itself from its torpor after the deaths of U.S. soldiers. Fear of a
war before American elections has immobilized Biden. They have taken only limited
action in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.
In spite of
the shadow boxing in the north, Israel has refrained from opening a new front
there. What will happen when Rafah is pacified is anybody’s guess. Hezbollah,
which is totally in charge there, has resisted Teheran’s urging, fearing the
devastating results of a full war with Israel in Lebanon. It is already an
economic basket case.
With the
total refusal by Israel of a two-state solution to the current impasse, it
remains to be seen what the day after will look like. Once the power of Hamas
is eradicated, we will begin to hear some Palestinian voices. Once Israel moves
toward completion, once the Arab states have less fear of what Hamas
represents, once we are in a post-election period, more viable solutions will
present themselves.
Meanwhile
Hamas mouthpieces continue to feed lies to the public over the major news
outlets. It is clear they have been firmly implanted using oil fund over the
decades. The claims of injury to civilians is the story Hamas wants the public
to accept. That has been their purpose for Hamas since day one. If the U.S.
government vetoed a ceasefire can’t we imagine they know something we don’t
know. This is the final act of eradication, blocking the Egyptian source of the
supplies that enabled Hamas to build the massive military machine that we have
uncovered.
One thing is
now evident. The jig is up for Hamas in Gaza. The jig is up for Hamas in Judea
and Samaria. The world-wide campaign against Israel, Jewry, and western values is
just beginning, broadcast from every mosque in the world.
